The International Forensic Medicine Association, Inc., is an educational association comprising a group of physicians dedicated to better understanding the global aspects of forensic medicine including issues such as disability vs impairment, issues of causation, and long term sequellae.
The purpose of IFMA is to educate doctors and lawyers about how to recognize and detoxify the "spinning of science," so to speak, that is sometimes conducted by medical & mental health experts.
The board of directors acts as an advisory board to the organization. The organization provides for certification upon passage of examination graded by physicians selected by the organization.
Currently the examination is given and graded only in English.
The examination is in 3 parts:
Meetings will be scheduled and selected speakers will be invited to discuss these topics.
All applicants must agree to volunteer at least l hour per month in the fashion in which they so choose. This can include downcoding or waiving charges, volunteering to conduct evaluations in schools etc.
We now offer individual certifications in the following:
Certifications require the individual to complete 4 projects in a row obtaining no less than a 4 on a l-5 satisfaction scale from the lawyer who retained him or her for the project.
